A friend and client of mine knew I was looking for some fall colors to photograph and he had a great recommendation: Winding Stairs Trail. I had never heard of this trail even though I had been through Albert Pike Recreational Area a few times before. The trail head is easy to find as it's only 2 miles from the entrance into the park. Had a great time Saturday with some friends and my nephew, Ethan.  We've had some great rainfall which is odd for Arkansas in the Summer so we headed to north Arkansas to get some waterfall pictures.  When we arrived, there was big storm going through which made the shoot challenging and the water was roaring!  

  I've been out to Lake Catherine so many times now that I don't even get all that excited about shooting it anymore.  But, I had a great opportunity to meet up with a couple of friends there and that makes is that much more fun!  I tried to get a few different angles again just to shake things up.

I took advantage of my Friday morning after yesterday's rain to go and find a series of cascades at the Ross Foundation.  I had never been to this location before so it was a real treat!  The area was SLICK though so I had to be extra careful.  I slipped and slammed my tripod into a boulder at one point!

I've been here a lot lately, but I wanted a short trip and an opportunity to use my 10 stop ND filter.  The above photo was taken with two shots.  One for foreground and one with the 10 stop filter to make the waterfall and water silky smooth.  The waterfall ended up being a 4 minute exposure.

Bud.... Weis.... Hey, where is Er?!?! On my way down to catch some photos of flowers and scenery, I saw these two frogs hanging out around a pond.  These frogs are HUGE!  I almost thought they were fake!

  I had been wanting to shoot some waterfalls with all this rain we've been having and I finally had a chance on Friday.  I made the 2 hour drive out to Mount Magazine.  After all these years in Arkansas, this was my first trip to this place.  It's beautiful!  The big problem I had though was that there wasn't a cloud in the sky.  Nothing messes up a good waterfall picture like direct sunlight.  Oh well.  The picture above is the only real keeper from the bunch in my opinion.  I hope to go back on a nice overcast day to get some better photos.  These first pictures are from...

Today's photo trip was extra special because I was joined by my daughter, Brooke.  She was out for Spring break so she joined Dad on this journey.  

After speaking at a men's retreat hosted by Flatwoods Baptist Church, pastor Joe Morell drove me around town.  He took me down to Blanchard Springs which was flowing with lots of water!

  On my way to Mountain View to speak at a men's retreat, I decided to stop in Heber Springs for some photos.  There are a few waterfalls there and we've had plenty of rain.
